About the project

Software that respects the blank page — and you

Minimalist Screenwriter started from a simple frustration: professional screenplay formatting shouldn’t cost money, require an account, or send a single word of your work to someone else’s server.

Why this exists

Most screenwriting software falls into two camps: expensive, feature-heavy applications built for studios, or free tools that quietly ask you to create an account and store your drafts in the cloud. Neither felt right for the writer who just wants to open a page and start typing.

What we believe

  • Offline-first, always. A writing tool shouldn’t need a live connection to a server to save your own words.
  • Your script is yours. No account, no analytics on your content, no cloud copy you didn’t ask for.
  • Free means free. No feature is held back for a paid tier.
  • Formatting should be automatic. Learning the shape of a screenplay is hard enough without also fighting margins and tab stops.
